NYSHC Brookfield 50/30 mile CTR & 15 mile CDR for 2017
The NYSHC Brookfield 50 mile & 30 mile Competitive Trail Ride & 15 mile Conditioning Distance Ride will be at Pure Country Campgrounds June 23,24, & 25, 2017. These rides will be sanctioned by the Eastern Competitive Trail Ride Association (ECTRA). The rides are sponsored by The New York State Horse Council.
The ride will be entirely on dirt roads, NYS truck trails, or woodland trails. There is no (zero) blacktop to ride at all !
There will be three distances offered: One is a 2 day 50 mile CTR. Two are 1-day rides. They are a 30 mile CTR and a 15 mile Conditioning Distance Ride (CDR).
For an entry form please click the 2017 Ride Entry link above the banner photo.
Competitive Trail Rides are judged rides over a set course done at an average speed of about 6 miles per hour. All riders and horses are expected to take about the same time to complete the ride. These are not races nor are they obstacle courses. The horses are examined from nose to tail at both the start and finish of the course. The horse who completes the course and has the least amount of physical and metabolic change over the course of the ride will be the winner. For all of the riders "to finish is to win".
This competition is sanctioned by the Eastern Competitive Trail Riding Association. Riders should be familiar with the rules found at www.ECTRA.org.
We need lots of volunteers to help with the ride. Food will be provided for all volunteers. It is great fun and great training for Newbies! Contact the Secretary or the Manager.
